Scripture
The foundation.
“Jesus Christ is the subject. Scripture is the foundation. Worship is the purpose.” That’s what I say about the music, but it’s just as true of the books and of the ordinary days behind both — so these passages belong here, not in a notebook only I read.
The list is small on purpose. These are the verses I keep returning to: the ones that have shaped how I parent, how I lead a group, how I try to sit with someone who’s grieving, and how I write when the answer isn’t simple. Some arrived in a season and never left. Some I’m still learning what to do with.
More will be added as the list grows. These passages speak to the life I’m living and the work I’m creating. I’m still learning how to live them faithfully.
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home…
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.”
They who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
We walk by faith, not by sight.
But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
He said to them, “Come and you will see.”
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”
