Behind the work
Faith. Family. A life in progress.
I’m Adrian Appleberry. I live in San Antonio, Texas, and my life includes a few different callings: husband, adoptive dad, author, songwriter, technology professional, and founder. Faith connects them all.
I’ve followed Jesus since I was fourteen. That faith has grown through the ordinary work of marriage, parenting, serving in church, and learning that knowing the right answer doesn’t always make living it easy. I’m interested in what faith looks like when it has to carry real weight—when someone is grieving, when a family is struggling, or when the future refuses to cooperate with the plan.
But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
My book The House We Share tells the story of learning to care for my body as a house I share with God. After years of desk work, stress, exhaustion, and postponed intentions, rebuilding my health became a journey of faith and stewardship. God used medical care, weight-loss medication, community, and daily walks to help me begin changing how I lived. Those walks became ‘adult recess with God,’ and small, ordinary acts of faithfulness began adding up.

My fiction takes those concerns into imagined worlds. The Circuit Haven, The Covenant City, and The KAIROS Protocol explore faith, human choices, and the consequences of powerful systems. I’m drawn to characters who have to decide what they trust, what they will surrender, and what they will hold onto when the cost becomes real. My Christian faith is central to that work, including the difficult questions my characters have to face.
Music gives me another way to explore belief and experience. Altar Stone is my Christ-centered music project, shaped by Scripture, struggle, surrender, and hope. I love music that can be thoughtful, heavy, beautiful, and honest enough to leave room for an unresolved prayer.
I’ve also spent much of my professional life working in technology and leading service teams. That experience influences both my fiction and what I build. I’m the founder of CONTINUIC, the company behind Steward, where I’m developing technology around the people it is meant to serve.
My church community is an important part of that journey. I’m part of Community Bible Church in San Antonio, led by Pastor Ed Newton, where I serve as a Community Group Leader for a men’s group and serve alongside my wife as a Community Group Leader for couples in the marriage ministry. Those relationships are foundational to my growth—places where I’m encouraged, challenged, supported, and given opportunities to do the same for others. Following Jesus takes shape in how we share life together.
I’ve also discovered a love for walking and training, and the satisfaction of doing something today that once seemed beyond me.
There are a lot of interests here, but they belong to the same life. I’m curious about how things work, why people believe what they believe, and what we do with the time and abilities God gives us. I’m still learning, still creating, and still walking with Him.
